It works well under SUSE 10.0. If you setup dsl via an ethernet card - as in this case -, don't use the Yast dsl module! If your ISP needs authentication, don't use the default internet applet under gnome. Use this program, it works well: http://www.roaringpenguin.com/penguin/pppoe (rp-pppoe) Just install your ethernet card and choose an address as mentioned in the router setup guide. Using default settings, you don't even need to access the web-based setup of the router.

This system was released in August of 2006 (I think), and uses the new core 2 Duo, and I believe a new Intel chipset. Not surprisingly, there are some problems using it with versions of Linux released before that time. Ubuntu 6.06 will load on the system, and most functions did appear to work. However, the onboard ethernet controller (an intel gbit interface) is not detected. I was able to get the system working with an older PCI ethernet card. I also tried test release Ubuntu 6.10 Knot 3. This correctly found the onboard ethernet card, so I assume the official 6.10 release will be fine when it comes out. Sound and USB worked fine. The DVD drive seems to work, but I had a lot of trouble getting the system to boot from the drive. I usually had to hit F12 to go to the boot menu, then tell it to boot from the DVD, which would always fail at least once. If I tried it multiple times, it would eventually work. This may be a problem with my system, I find it hard to believe this applies to all systems.

Read a comment by Dan Williams(?)...apparently associated with Red Hat...that V2 of the WG511 will be recognized by the OS if it says Made in Taiwan (using the Prism chipset)...but...if it says Made in China...the OS does not recognize it since the chipset was changed to the Marvell chipset. I verified this by running "lspci -vv". Jim

Only thing that might not work is tv-out.I have not tried it. Mepis recognizes only one processor, while I have a dual-core, I do not really care. DVD+rw is spinning too fast when inserted. I had also problems with burning data (iso, movies) on dvd in k3b. maybe trying a different program solves the problem, because I could burn cd's(audio-cd and iso) These are minor issues you do not even notice while operating. I can live with it. Soundcard, headphones, motherboard, wifi are working fine.

Plugged in and Fedora Core 5 recognised it and auto-mounted it. Filesystem was vfat on receipt, so great for Windows /Linux transfers Only "problem" was the free space was given as 466GB, not 500GB. Maybe a re-format would fix it?

Works fine with the open source (nv) driver, though windows are slow to refresh. Installing the official nvidia driver speeds things up and opengl works fine. SLI works.

You have to add your user to the "audio" group, else you will experience error messages and silence when trying to play through the USB speakers. After logging off and on again, select the speakers in KMix (they show up as "C-Media USB audio") and make sure their volume is turned up. Launch the PulseAudio Volume Control. On the "Playback" tab, move any playing audio streams to the USB speakers. Tested on Mandriva 2008 Spring.
